- Metal Etching is when there is a plane of metal and on it you create a design drawn out in sharpie and then the metal is dropped in acid and the acid eats at everything but the sharpie and then at the end the piece is left with indents from the exposed metal. - In order to solder my planets together we fluxed the bottom of each piece then added solder (low melting for the smaller pieces, medium for the medium sized pieces, and high for the larger pieces). Then once solder was applied, I melted it and added the top piece and repeated for every part. - Reflection: Both pieces were metal and required a design, but the etching required acid to create it and the solder required heat to create the design. But over all I like the soldering better because it was more fun to use the heat and tools to move the pieces around and for the etching I needed to shine it and it was so scary.
